Welcome!

Ashok Patel, MD

"Greetings! You may have heard of "Patel." "Patel" is like "Smith" in the state of Gujarat.

I grew up in a small town, Sarkhej, on the outskirt of a huge metro, Ahmedahed, the largest city in Gujarat. (Currently, Gujarat boasts the hightest growth rate in India.)

Until my hair turned gray, I underwent extensive medical training including a fellowship in allergy/immunology at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver. As a board certified allergist, I have been serving Southern Colorado for 20 years. Additionally, I am a board certified pediatrician.

If I do not show my age, the credit goes to my wife.

If I show my age, please do not blame my two sons. If I have a question which confounds me, I call them, as they know everything and more--just kidding! They are typical American kids, born and bred here.

In this great secular nation, I am able to practice my brand of Hinduism. Even though I am a vegetarian, availability of a wide variety of foods do not starve my waistline.

Sincerely, Ashok Patel

Good morning! I hope you see this in a timely way, since the blog has been viewed a lot, but no one wants to say anything...

Our family moved here in June '09 - and ever since, my wife and I have begun experiencing steadily worse asthma symptoms. This is a problem, because I am in the Army. I have a hard time getting beyond a "blank stare" so far - no one wants to believe that anyone could have a negative reaction to living in Colorado. I have never before lived anywhere with less than 70% humidity. I'd think maybe that an adverse response would be *logical* - but hey!
Thanks for any ideas...
